Most couples start with choosing their dream wedding venue or ideal wedding date which is what I would recommend, after being in the wedding industry for 5+ years and shooting weddings and elopements all over the US.
My general recommendation is to secure your date/venue and then reach out to your DREAM, must have, cant live without vendors ( often your photographer, videographer and possibly your dream floral designer) as soon as you have secured a date/venue. Now this is not to say that if your wedding is sooner you shouldn't reach out either- but I often book weddings 12-18 months in advance.
