Thinking of planning your wedding at Planterra Conservatory? I’d be honored to capture your celebration as your Michigan wedding photographer. If you’re looking for photography that seamlessly blends editorial elegance with documentary storytelling, we may be the perfect match. You can learn more about me below!

Why Planterra Conservatory Is One of My Favorite Venues to Photograph

As a Michigan wedding photographer who has shot at venues across the state, Planterra holds a specific place in my work. The glass ceiling means natural light floods the space in a way that’s genuinely rare for an indoor venue — the kind of light that makes portraits feel effortless and reception images look like they were lit by a cinematographer.

A few things I always tell couples planning a Planterra wedding:

The morning light through the conservatory glass is extraordinary. If your timeline allows for any portrait time before the ceremony, the botanical backdrop combined with that filtered natural light creates images that feel unlike anything else.

The greenery never needs styling. Every corner of Planterra offers a backdrop that is lush, layered, and completely natural. You don’t need a lot of floral design to make the space look incredible in photographs — the venue does that work for you.

The VIP Suite light is worth planning around. Getting ready portraits in the VIP Suite are often some of the most intimate and beautiful images from the whole day. The light is soft and directional — plan extra time there if you can.

Timing matters for the ceremony space. The glass ceiling creates beautiful diffused light throughout the day, but the quality of light shifts as the sun moves. Talk to your photographer about the ideal ceremony time for photography — it makes a real difference.

Planning Your Planterra Conservatory Wedding Photos?

Planterra deserves photography that matches its intention — images as considered and beautiful as the space itself. I’ve photographed weddings at Planterra and it remains one of the Michigan venues I return to most eagerly. If you’re planning your wedding here and looking for an editorial wedding photographer who knows this space, I’d love to hear about your day. Most couples invest $6,500–$9,000 with LoHi Images. Limited dates available for 2026 and 2027.
